ABOUT US

The Latin Dance Company Ltd ("TLDC"), is an entertainment company that organises and manages brands, driving events uniquely through dancing (Latin dances). WE are the pioneer of Salsa dance (one of the Latin dances), here in Nigeria.

Our mission is to help our partners drive their brands across the African continent via the Latin dances, which salsa is one, as the platform to do so. In addition, through social dancing, TLDC aims at using this form of dancing to break down ethnicity, cultural barriers or differences within our sub-continent and the continent at large thus, fostering bi-lateral relations among the people, helps in character building, to add variety to social life and to bring salsa to every door step in Nigeria, West Africa and Africa at large.

With this soul mission in mind, the TLDC-TEAM is organising three major Salsa festivals in three African countries, namely Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana between 2010 and 2011. The festivals will comprise a One day event: which will culminate in an attempt to set a new World Record for largest salsa dance event.

Nigeria is aiming to set a new record with 2000 plus couples. The current record for the largest salsa dance consisted of 451 couples and was organised by Jose Perez and Tjapko Smits (both Venezuelan) at the Caracas Hilton Hotel, in Caracas, Venezuela, on 1 October 2006. TLDC has already received approval from GWR for the Event. This will be the biggest salsa gathering the world will witness and it’s happening in Nigeria!

TLDC will partner with top local dance/salsa teachers for the recruitment and training of 4,000 upwardly mobile youths & professionals in Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana. These individuals will be recruited from universities, professional organizations, and the general public.

The first Salsa festival will be held in Nigeria on Saturday 25th September 2010, the weekend preceding the celebration of Nigeria's 50th Independence Day.

We will be  using this medium to promoting a heart healthy lifestyle campaign in conjunction with the Nigerian Heart Foundation (NHF) to mark their celebration as this is also The World Heart Day.

A decade ago, the first World Heart Day was celebrated in September 2000, the World Heart Federation (WHF) and its members will be celebrating progress with repect to the tangible exploits done in the area of heart healthy living. WHF is urging governments, healthcare professionals, employers and individuals to reduce the incidence of  cardio related illnesses.

Salsa is fun and a good form of exhilarating body workout. Even the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommend dancing as a way to stay in shape or to shed some weight.

Salsa Dancing became five year in Nigeria February 2010.

Congratulations Nigeria
